AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS IN TRAINING (AET)

Students were challenged to test the current wing design of planes and the affect that has on distance traveled, glide rating, and speed rating. From their analysis of the data they collected, then then designed and tested various experimental wing shapes to achieve maximum travel distances.

Students used geometry and algebraic equations to uncover the BEST wing shape for long distances


CREATE YOUR OWN PLANE

Students were also challenged to use mixed media to create their own unique planes.

"Its a Small World"

Flight has revolutionized the way we see the world. Please explain, in your own words the following question: How do planes make our world smaller?

    Planes make our world smaller because it takes a short amount of time to get somewhere that seems so far away. It brings our world together, combining many cultures and traditions. It helps our world understand variety and meet new people.

    Planes make our world smaller because in a couple of minutes or hours we can cross the oceans and we are on our way to Japan or any place in the world. It's like the world shrinks and we can go anywhere we want. Before planes, ships took approximately 30 days or more to get to South America. Now it only takes 10 hours. 10 hours to discover a new culture, a new place.

    I think that planes make the world smaller because when you are in the air, you see and observe a part of the world in one big puzzle.

    When you're flying in a plane you explore places, but after you start visiting places your choices start to become limited.

    Planes make our world smaller because of the speed. Planes help you get a better view of the world. Unlike cars you cant see the whole city from high above.

    I THINK PLANES MAKE THE WORLD SMALLER BECAUSE THERE'S LESS WORK YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET SOME PLACE.FOR EXAMPLE BACK IN THE DAYS YOU HAD TO RIDE ON A HORSE AND GO THROUGH FORESTS AND WHAT NOT BUT NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET YOUR LUGGAGE, PAY MONEY AND SIT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. AND THERE TAKING YOU WHEREVER YOU WANT

    Airplanes make our world smaller because now we can go where ever we want, no problem. But before we couldnt because we didnt have airplanes. Years ago it would of taken them weeks or months. Now we can go across the country in less then 4 or 5 hours.

    Airplanes have been a great invention to most people. It has mad the world a smaller place because now we can travel to any place we want in hours. Before we had to travel across the oceanto get clothing and food as we are always importing and exporting.

    Airplanes make the world smaller because without airplanes we would have one less form of transportation. We have airplanes because it is a faster way to travel. People, food, and even objects travel by plane to get from one place to the other.

    The planes make the world feel smaller because we have found a new way to travel from place to place in a couple of hours. so now because of the airplanes the world does not seem as big when we did not have the power to travel in the sky

    The reason airplainsmake the world samller is because airplains make it easier to travle. Say you walk to the mall and it takes you more then an hour but if you have a plane it would take less time and save you the pain.

    When I think about this question I think about people who never get away from their city and cant even belive the wonders of this world. Then I think about the amazing advanced technology we have and how fast someone can travel the world. Its fasinating how little the world is now compared to 100 years ago

    My answer to this question will be, Since we get planes and new Technology we can commute around the world easier now, because back then decades ago they had old technology now a days we have brand new updated technology, so it's easy to travel and trade
